Altar servers assist the priest during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and during other parish functions (such as the Corpus Christi procession). Children having made their First Holy Communion are eligible to serve in this capacity. Please contact the Rectory for more information and learn of the next training opportunity.
Lectors
Lectors proclaim the Word of God clearly and understandably so that all who hear may respond. If you are interested in serving as a Lector, please contact Carla at 596-2130.
Choir and Musicians
Under the direction of Mr. George Mancini, the adult and youth (6-12) choirs and our musicians enhance the solemnity of our Holy Masses, weddings, funerals and other services. Parishioners are invited to share their musical talents breathing life into the words within the St. Michael Hymnal with the rest of the congregation. For more information, please visit our Music page.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
Article 8 of the Instruction "On Certain Questions Regarding the Collaboration of the Non-Ordained Faithful in the Sacred Ministry of Priest" provides direction in the proper participation of the laity in this special role. In addition to assisting the ordained clergy with the distribution of Holy Communion when particularly large numbers of the faithful are present resulting in an excessively prolonged delay, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion serve by bringing communion to parishioners who reside in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or in their own homes and unable to attend Holy Mass. For more information, please contact the Rectory.
Ushers
Being a welcoming community is very important to us as we seek to help all who enter our doors, whomever they are and wherever they are spiritually, grow in greater closeness to our Creator and Lord. Ushers are the first face of the parish. They greet those coming into our church, offer assistance to those in need such as escorting to their seats or ensuring they receive Holy Communion if they are unable to proceed up the aisle, distribute parish bulletins, take up the collection, and distribute other materials as needed. Every weekend Mass has its own team of ushers. Being an usher requires commitment of arriving at Mass 15 or so minutes early. Ushers also have the option of assisting at other parish events as requested. We are always looking for new ushers - if you wish to consider being an usher, please contact the Rectory at 401-596-2130.
Sacristans
Sacristans assist, facilitate, and provide support and coordination for other liturgical ministries. In addition, they make the necessary preparations for liturgical activities. For more information on how you can assist in this way, please contact the Rectory.
