The Knights of Columbus Narragansett Council 21 is sponsoring the annual Blue Mass in honor of our Police, Fire and Emergency Service Personnel. The history of the Blue Mass dates back to 1934, when a Catholic priest from the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Maryland, organized the Catholic Police and Firemen’s Society while stationed at St. Patrick Church in Washington, D.C. More than 1,000 police and firemen appeared at the church dressed in their blue uniforms for the first Blue Mass, which was celebrated on Sept. 29, 1934. Police, Fire and Emergency Service Personnel of all denominations are invited to attend the Catholic Mass. Brother Knights Mike Alice, 741-1144, John Sutcliffe at 596-0427, and Mike Miller at 596-7039
